Confused by the emotions set off by the discovery, Mary Jane chose to keep this information to herself, and just like Peter refused to pursue a relationship with him, out of fear that he might neglect her for his super hero duties. After Madeline left Philip, the Watson women stayed with various relatives. Due to his failing job as a writer Philip soon began lashing out at his family, going so far to abuse them. MJ took the codename of the superheroine Jackpot, until recently becoming the new host of the Venom symbiote and the foster mother of Dylan Brock. During that time, MJ and Paul had found and adopted two kids to raise as their own. MJ and Peter attempted to rekindle their relationship, and in spite of the machinations of the Kindreds and Mephisto, they became a couple again.
After Peter nearly lets the symbiote take over him while attacking Kraven, she leaves him and takes the twins with her. She grows intolerable of Peter’s absences as Spider-Man as she takes care of the twins and the elderly May around the time where Peter acquires the black suit. After Peter and Gwen’s clones leave New York to begin a new life, she comforts Peter in his apartment.
The Watsonne family are a theatrical troupe, from the same village in Scotland as Peter Parquagh. Sunfire manages to return to Mary-Jane for some time, although none of their friends know how long this will be. The two enjoy a romantic relationship, albeit one interrupted by Sunfire’s dimensional jumping responsibilities.
“One More Day”
Unfortunately, Doctor Octavius had swapped their minds, gaining access to Spider-Man’s memories, and so took Peter Parker’s life as his own. As Peter left, Aunt May whispered to Jay that she might finally get some grandchildren after all. In the hospital, Peter asked Mary Jane about a date one more time, but he was interrupted by his Avengers I.D. Intending to rectify that and restart their relationship, he went to Mary Jane’s nightclub and offered to take her to dinner.

But the spider-bite ran deeper in his blood than his own resolve. Mary Jane eventually resumed modeling, for which she was highly paid. Anna Watson moved in with the Parkers for a time until May was rescued and returned home. The Parkers moved to Portland, Oregon to live a normal life, but were soon drawn back to New York.
Supermodel to Model Super Hero
Sometime after the confrontation, MJ is later contacted by Peter, who apologizes for his past behavior and informs her that he had removed the symbiote and intended to destroy it. In Osborn’s secret lab, she picked up one of his genetically modified spiders and successfully found the Devil’s Breath lab location. Her early life remains largely unexplored, but it’s known she had a strained relationship with her father, a harbor worker laid off when Wilson Fisk bought the harbor for his illicit activities. Sometime after Harry’s funeral, Peter arrives at Mary Jane’s jazz club, and the two begin to mend their relationship, sharing a dance.a After Mary Jane kisses John, in a manner that is reminiscent of the upside-down kiss between her and Spider-Man from the first film, she realizes that she does not love John and still wants a relationship with Peter.
Issue 605 flashbacks to Mary Jane recalling a fight with Peter while he was dressed as Spider-Man, where she said that she did not care where he was and that he had a responsibility to their relationship. She left a message on Peter’s machine but it was cut off before she could say anything. Mary Jane says that she and pin up online casino Spider-Man made a great team “in another life” and longingly touches a monitor screen showing his face, hinting that she still has strong feelings and misses him.
Peter said in response that he was not ready to live without his aunt. In despair, Peter was soon approached by Mephisto and told that there was a way to save Aunt May’s life. Mary Jane spent most of the time sitting next to May’s bed or invigorating Peter. He sought the help of Dr. Strange and found that even magic couldn’t help him save Aunt May’s life. Later, Peter was on a quest to save the life of his Aunt May, who had fallen from a sniper’s bullet intended for him. Mary Jane was glad to live in luxurious rooms with her beloved and made friends with some fellow super heroes, something she had long wanted to do.
In the epilogue to “One More Day”, she attends a “coming home” party held by ex-Harry Osborn during one such visit, with Peter catching a small glimpse of her before she left, after ignoring her. Mephisto accepts these terms, and in the revised timeline, which begins at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man #545, and is further explained in the following issues, MJ and Peter were never married but instead “dated seriously for years”. MJ, despite loving Peter, accepts Mephisto’s offer, but only with the caveat that Mephisto promises to restore Spider-Man’s secret identity. Peter and MJ scramble to save May’s life, rushing her from hospital to hospital while trying to maintain their fragile cover of anonymity.
All-New Venom
Peter congratulates Mary Jane for the victory and prepares to leave, to which she asks if he would stay with her to take in the previously defeated Hobgoblin. When Mary Jane is consumed by the Arachniote, Peter receives a vision from a possible future where Peter becomes the King in Black, the god of all symbiotes, and Mary Jane triumphs over the Arachniote in a test of wills, leaving Paul and becoming Peter’s queen. During the crisis, Peter finds himself bonded temporarily again with the original Venom symbiote, Venom continually critiques Mary Jane’s choice of partner in Paul and reminds Peter of the pain and loss he still feels from Mary Jane’s rejection of him. Peter indicates that things will “eventually” work out between them romantically, which MJ does not object to despite presently seeing someone else. Mary Jane continued to see Peter, inviting him over to have dinner with Paul and herself, and, despite her initial hesitation to team with Peter, she eventually relaxes this stance and again partners with him. Mary Jane confronts Peter, who after realizing that she was the one who started the relationship with Paul, vengefully threatens to make her pay for betraying him.
Affiliation and Relationships
Mary Jane is a lesbian who fell in love with the reality-hopping Mariko Yashida, the ill-fated Exiles member Sunfire. The Parker family of this world finally meet the Peter Parker of Earth 616 in the 2018 event Spider-Geddon. Peter uses the Regent tech to weaken the symbiote, allowing Mary Jane to retaliate and bring the symbiote under her control.
She also gets to save Spider-Man in the nick of time by throwing a cinder block at Venom. Holding her in a web duct taxi as bait, Mary Jane is briefly able to protect herself this time. He leaves and disposes of the symbiote suit, which subsequently falls onto Eddie Brock, Gwen’s failed suitor and Peter’s bitter rival and fellow photographer, to create Venom. He then gets into a fight with the club’s bouncers and unintentionally hits Mary Jane when she intervenes, leading him to realize what the symbiote suit has turned him into.
- However, the suit is revealed to be the Venom symbiote, which briefly attempts to take control of Mary Jane and use her against Peter, attempting to gain revenge for Peter killing Eddie Brock.

Mary Jane’s attitude towards Peter during her time with him reminded Peter not to let his work take priority over his loved ones. She confessed to him that no matter how complicated their relationship was, her feelings would always remain the same – she loves him, all the way down to her soul. After a while Carlie Cooper came to talk to Mary Jane about Peter’s double life, as they were both exes who knew his secret.
In the MC2 universe, which depicts an alternative future timeline for the Marvel Universe, Mary Jane remains married to Peter Parker. After he has eaten, Peter is consumed by the guilt and grief of what he has done to the last two people who ever loved him, refusing to take off his mask so he will not have to look himself in the eyes again. Mary Jane is reunited with Patient Zero, but is left distraught when Punisher kills him. Through unknown means she is eventually returned to the side of Spider-Man (now dubbed ‘Patient Zero’) and joins his tribe, despite not being infected. With her family locked in the dungeon and herself being used as bait to lure Peter into a trap, Marion and Peter are reunited.

In the Amazing Spider-Man series, it is revealed that she has eventually accepted Tony’s employment offer when she and Tony attend a Parker Industry event, making Peter very uncomfortable. Having ended her relationship with Ollie, Mary Jane had opened this nightclub after MJ’s got destroyed during a superhero battle.
However, Peter was deeply in love with Gwen and turned Mary Jane down (to her surprise). Mary Jane was hired as a dancer at a New York City dance club, the Gloom Room, which was secretly a front for the crime lord, the Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin. When Dylan was injured by Dr. Fortissimo, the symbiote went berserk and viciously attacked him before calming down. Battling the Death-Throws as Venom, Mary Jane used her scientific knowledge to help the Venom symbiote identify gunpowder by taste. Returning home, Mary Jane was informed by a worried Paul that her Jackpot Bracelet was malfunctioning, while Dylan began to obsess over reclaiming the Venom symbiote. As the random powers it gave her harmed her body, Mary Jane was guided by the symbiote piece to the Venom symbiote’s location. In the wake of the Venom War, Mary Jane’s Jackpot Device began malfunctioning due to a piece of the symbiote messing with the mechanism.
The Venom symbiote attempted to explain why it didn’t tell him the truth, but Dylan refused to understand and left to his room. There Paul attempted to reconcile with her, telling her he would improve as a person, but MJ hit him with the harsh truth that their relationship wasn’t working and told him that it was time for them to break up. Fully under the control of the Hive-Mind, MJ and the Venom symbiote attempted to kill the spiders, but were stopped by Spider-Venom and his team of symbiote-possessed spiders. As Dylan Brock, the son of both Eddie Brock and the symbiote, was left without someone to look after him due to losing both of his fathers, Mary Jane was compelled to ask Flash if she could foster him. Forced to remain bonded together, Mary Jane kept this a secret from Paul and let the symbiote be in the driver’s seat as they operated as Venom.
